The waterfall is located in the vicinity of the iconic boarding schools St. George, Ous, Oak Grove and Weinberg. Earlier this sanctuary used to be the natural habitat of extinct birds named Red-Blood Blue Magpai and Himalayan Quail, later this century was converted into a word-watching destination. Apart from Avifuana, tourists can also visit the natural habitat of spotted deer and lizards.
The Himalayan quail was last seen in 1876. In this sanctuary, along with many medicinal properties, many plants of fur and deodar are found along with many plants. Many animals such as Himalayan goat, Himalayan bear and Cheetah can also be seen here. Buses and taxis are easily available from Dehradun and Mussoorie city to this sanctuary.
10. Gun Hill
Gun Hill is the second highest point of Mussoorie after Lal Tibba which is situated at an altitude of about 400 feet from Mall Road. 18. Christ Church
Christ Church was built by the British in 1836, which is considered to be the oldest church in the Himalayan ranges. In 1906, the Princess of Wales (who later became Queen Mary of England) visited this church. He planted a cedar tree in the courtyard of this church and this tree is still planted here till today. The church is built in the Gothic architecture style and depicts the life of Jesus Christ in glass windows.
The church altar also refers to Jesus Christ hanging on the cross. The interior of the church is very beautifully built. Throughout the year, a large number of tourists and devotees visit this church to pray, pray and see the beautiful architecture of the place. Tourists can also visit the one hundred year old William Hill Organ which has historical significance.
19. Library Bazaar
Library Bazaar is located near the old library in Mussoorie which is also known as Gandhi Chowk. The place was named after it became a Victorian-style library in the 19th century, representing the history and heritage of this destination.
The main attraction here is the band stand where people can stand and listen to famous historical songs. Gandhi Chowk is also famous for the Mahatma Gandhi statue which is situated in one corner of the market. 20. Shedup Choppling Temple
Shedup Choppling Temple is the famous Tibetan temple of Mussoorie which is also known as Tibetan Buddhist temple. This temple is situated on Happy Valley Road, which is surrounded by beautiful snow mountains from all sides.
It is said that after coming from Tibet, the Dalai Lama took refuge in Mussoorie and India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru recorded this land as Dharamshala in his name.
